I studied illustration and sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design. After college I worked at several foundries and sculpture studios and then in 1995 opened Kane Sculpture Studio with my wife, Angela.
Kane Sculpture Studio started as a full-service art foundry. We provided molding and casting services for other artists, completed commissioned sculpture, made fine art and garden sculpture, and taught classes and workshops in sculpture.
After ten years, I sold the foundry to pursue sculpture and teaching full-time. I currently work on commissioned sculpture and community projects which call on my sculpture and teaching experience. Since 2005, I have worked on several large private and public commissions. I have tried to bring some of the timeless qualities of balance, detail, and nuance that I admire in ancient Greek and Italian Renaissance sculpture into these works.
I am also fortunate to be one of the founding faculty members at the Jaqueline M. Walsh School for the Performing and Visual Arts (JMW) in Pawtucket RI. It is the only public audition-to-enter arts high school in the state. At JMW I have created a four year curriculum designed to build essential foundation skills, help students find their personal voice, and prepare them to gain admission to competitive fine art colleges.
